Pass Over

There is so much I did not understand that day long ago in my memory, when Jesus made a visit with me. He washed me …He cleansed me…He gave me new life…He saved me…

“I am the door: by Me if any man enter in, he shall be saved, and shall go in and out, and find pasture.” John 10:9

I did not know that He was my Passover…I did not know what Passover was…

For even Christ our Passover is sacrificed for us:” 1 Corinthians 5:7

Then Moses called for all the elders of Israel, and said unto them, Draw out and take you a lamb according to your families, and kill the passover. And ye shall take a bunch of hyssop, and dip it in the blood that is in the basin, and strike the lintel and the two side posts with the blood that is in the basin; and none of you shall go out at the door of his house until the morning. For the LORD will pass through to smite the Egyptians; and when he seeth the blood upon the lintel, and on the two side posts, the LORD will pass over the door, and will not suffer the destroyer to come in unto your houses to smite you. And ye shall observe this thing for an ordinance to thee and to thy sons for ever.”  Exodus 12:21-24

And looking upon Jesus as he walked, he saith, Behold the Lamb of God!“  John 1:36

Jesus (Yahshua) is our Passover lamb… Yahshua means “Yah saves”… Yah is the shorter term for Yahweh …the name of God.

“For when Moses had spoken every precept to all the people according to the law, he took the blood of calves and of goats, with water, and scarlet wool, and hyssop, and sprinkled both the book, and all the people, Saying, This is the blood of the testament which God hath enjoined unto you. Moreover he sprinkled with blood both the tabernacle, and all the vessels of the ministry. And almost all things are by the law purged with blood; and without shedding of blood is no remission. It was therefore necessary that the patterns of things in the heavens should be purified with these; but the heavenly things themselves with better sacrifices than these. For Christ is not entered into the holy places made with hands, which are the figures of the true; but into heaven itself, now to appear in the presence of God for us: Nor yet that he should offer himself often, as the high priest entereth into the holy place every year with blood of others; For then must he often have suffered since the foundation of the world: but now once in the end of the world hath he appeared to put away sin by the sacrifice of himself. And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment: So Christ was once offered to bear the sins of many; and unto them that look for him shall he appear the second time without sin unto salvation.”  Hebrews 9:19-28

Hyssop was used for purification and it was used to put the blood of the lamb on the lintel and doorposts of each dwelling…

“Purge me with hyssop, and I shall be clean: wash me, and I shall be whiter than snow.”  Psalms 51:7

Hyssop was also used to give Jesus vinegar… and after it was put to His mouth, He said, “It is finished“…

“Now there was set a vessel full of vinegar: and they filled a sponge with vinegar, and put it upon hyssop, and put it to his mouth. When Jesus therefore had received the vinegar, he said, It is finished: and he bowed his head, and gave up the ghost.” John 19:29-30

The beauty of the fulfillment of the blood on the lintel representing the head of Christ and the blood on the doorposts representing His hands is beyond incredible…

So this was the fulfillment of the shadows of things to come… the Passover in the Old Testament is fulfilled by the sacrifice of Yahshua in the New Testament. Once and for all time… and we are washed in the blood of the Lamb. And the angel of death passes over us, for we are covered with His blood…we have eternal life.

“And when he had given thanks, He brake it, and said, Take, eat: this is my body, which is broken for you: this do in remembrance of me. After the same manner also he took the cup, when he had supped, saying, This cup is the new testament in my blood: this do ye, as oft as ye drink it, in remembrance of me.” 1 Corinthians 11:24-25

And we do this in remembrance of Him…

“Thou art worthy, O Lord, to receive glory and honour and power: for thou hast created all things, and for thy pleasure they are and were created.”  Revelation 4:11-5:1
