To Turn the Hearts of the Fathers to the Children

Speaking of John the Baptist in Luke 1:15-17…

“For he shall be great in the sight of the YHWH, and shall drink neither wine nor strong drink; and he shall be filled with the Holy Spirit, even from his mother’s womb. And many of the children of Israel shall he turn to YHWH their God. And he shall go before him in the spirit and power of Elias, to turn the hearts of the fathers to the children, and the disobedient to the wisdom of the just; to make ready a people prepared for YHWH.”

The spirit of Elijah did come before the coming of the Messiah and I believe will come again, or perhaps has come already before His return. The hearts of fathers are truly turning to the children. We see that in homeschooling. How many Christian fathers are taking the time to teach their children, and desiring to spend more time at home with their families?

Yes, I have seen this happening now for quite a few years.

Luke also says that the disobedient will turn to the wisdom of the just. The arbitrary “wisdom of the world” that can change at a whim or with the vote of a few people is not the wisdom of the just. True wisdom is just as the Scripture says,

For the LORD giveth wisdom: out of his mouth cometh knowledge and understanding. Proverbs 2:6

The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom: and the knowledge of the holy is understanding. Proverbs 9:10

And how do we find that wisdom? By studying the Word of God.

Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth
. 2 Timothy 2:15

The disobedient are the ones who have turned from God’s Truth and believe lies, but once they repent and believe in the salvation of Jesus, the only begotten son of the Father, then a whole new life opens up to them and they can turn from disobedience to true justice.

Furthermore, the spirit of Elijah makes ready a people prepared for YHWH. If we are freed from the shackles of sin and the world, we can live in the freedom of Christ.

“If the Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed.” John 8:36

“For he that is called in the Lord, being a servant, is the Lord’s freeman: likewise also he that is called, being free, is Christ’s servant. Ye are bought with a price; be not ye the servants of men.” 1 Corinthians 7:22-23

How many of us are truly bondservants of Christ? John had the spirit of Elijah. Scripture says he was filled with the Holy Spirit from His birth. He definitely wasn’t attached to the “world”. He didn’t care about what he ate or drank or what kind of clothes he wore. And he was imprisoned and beheaded for speaking the Truth; for telling Herod that he was living in sin.

Are we willing to go to prison for the truth? Are we willing to be persecuted for righteousness sake?

During World War II, Germany had taken over Denmark. I am privileged to have met a man who was a dear friend of my mothers and was in the Danish resistance. His name is Knut Dyby and a book has been written about him called “Boats in the Night”. He and his fellow country men not only saved 8,000 Jews from the concentration camps, but 11,000 other people who resisted German tyranny.

You can read more about Knud Dyby here

Here are a couple of quotes taken out of the book…

“Knut Dyby was a helper. He was proud of his Danish Heritage and angry at having to live under the thumb of the hated Germans. As a Christian he was not personally acquainted with many Jews, but he knew right from wrong and was aware that any Jew who was rounded up and deported would certainly end up in one of the infamous German concentration camps, about which members of the underground were just beginning to learn.” Page 38

“Dyby was in constant danger and knew that he would have been sent to a concentration camp or executed if his work in the underground had been discovered. But despite the risks, he took pride in what he was doing – a free spirit helping wherever he was needed.” Page 95

Are we willing to be this courageous? What is happening to our once Christian country – the home of the free and the brave? Are we still free or are we slaves of an increasing controlling government that is bent on calling evil good and good evil. Have we lost our courage, our bravery to stand against tyranny?

“Woe unto them that call evil good, and good evil; that put darkness for light, and light for darkness; that put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter!” Isaiah 5:20

“As for my people, children are their oppressors, and women rule over them. O my people, they which lead thee cause thee to err, and destroy the way of thy paths.”
Isaiah 3:12

Isn’t it interesting that a woman is very close to being the President, and look how many women are governors and in leadership roles in the country and it is increasing, and many of these are conservative Christians.

We are in trouble

In the early days of our country preachers such as Jonathan Mayhew taught the truth about tyrants…

“It is blasphemy to call tyrants and oppressors God’s ministers. They are more Properly “The Messengers of Satan to buffet us.” No rulers are Properly God’s ministers, but such as are “just, ruling in the fear of God.” When once magistrates act contrary to their office, and the end of their institutions, – when they rob and ruin the public, instead of being guardians of its peace and welfare, – they immediately cease to be the ordinance and ministers of God, and no more deserve that glorious character than common pirates and highwaymen.”

My next post is called Bullies and Bloodhounds and Bandits! Oh, No! or “Lions and Tigers and Bears! Oh, My!”
